A family from rural Walcott has been displaced by a fire that destroyed their mobile home. The blaze broke out shortly before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. The home, located at 6045 175th Ave SE, that’s about 3 miles east and one mile south of the Walcott exit off I-29 was owned by Dalton and Cecilia Bangert. In a statement from the Richland County Sheriff’s office, the couple was not home at the time of the fire which was called in by a passer-by. Richland County Emergency Manager, Brett Lambrecht, tells KBMW news fire crews from Colfax, Walcott and Abercrombie assisted with the blaze. The family lost two cats and two dogs in the fire.
