Friday local sports: B-W runners compete in Fergus Falls

The Breckenridge-Wahpeton girls team finished sixth and the boys eighth at the John Hermes Invitational Thursday in Fergus Falls.

The B-W girls were led by Rachel Gowin in 20th place in 22:24. Hailee Bruce was next in 31st at 23:47, Ashlyn Haire 33rd at 23:56, Em Lisby 34th at 24:37 and Grace Conzemius 37th at 25:06.

The B-W boys were topped by Adian Ruddy in 27th place in 18:3Francisco Perez Jr. 41st in 19:40, Gus Lasch 44th in 19:54, Corbin Cornelius 48th in 20:08 and Isaac Getz 49th in 20:09

Minnesota Twins

Willians Astudillo had four hits and was one of three Twins to drive at least two runs Thursday as Minnesota beat Detroit 10-4 on day after clinching the AL Central Division title.

Astrudillo homered in the eighth inning as the Twins hit two home runs on the day to reach 300, the first MLB team to ever hit 300 homers.

Jonathan Schoop knocked in three runs and Jake Cave two with Devin Smeltzer pitching the first five innings for the win.

Minnesota concludes the regular season with a 3-game swing in Kansas City.

 

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings listed just two players on their injury report on Thursday.

Josh Kline (concussion) did not participate in Thursday’s practice and linebacker Kentrell Brothers (wrister/hamstrong) was limited.

Anthony Barr, Mackenzie Alexander, Everson Griffin, Ben Gedeon and Shamar Stephens all were full participants in the practice.

The Vikings play at Chicago at 3:25 p.. on Sunday.
