Four Lidgerwood students were taken to the hospital Thursday after the school bus they were aboard was struck by a train at a Richland County railroad crossing.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m., shortly after school ended. A bus carrying 18 students was headed north through a railroad crossing just outside of Lidgerwood.
A slow-moving eastbound train hit the bus on its rear driver-side axle, causing it to rotate counterclockwise and roll onto its passenger side.
Lidgerwood School Board President Sadie Siemieniewski said three students were taken to the hospital by ambulance. A fourth student was airlifted to a Fargo hospital, though it appeared no one suffered serious injuries. The patrol’s crash report did not list an injury for the bus driver.
Lidgerwood Public School said the bus carries students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
