The Breckenridge Cowgirls picked up a win in the HOL cross-over Saturday in Moorhead, beating East Grand Forks 66-47.
Riley Lorenz and Jude Held each scored 16 points for the Cowgirls while Carci Materi added nine points. Camryn Kaehler led Breckenridge on the glass with 12 rebounds.
The Cowgirls improved to 12-8 overall and are 6-6 in Section 8AA play.
Lady Huskies fall at home to Shanley
The Wahpeton Lady Huskies led by a point at halftime Friday against Fargo Shanley, but the Deacons outscored the Lady Huskies 33-22 in the second half in a 62-52 Shanley win at Wahpeton High School.
Jordyn Kahler led Wahpeton with 24 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. McKenna Koolmo added 12 points.
Wahpeton fell to 2-12 overall and 1-11 in EDC play.
Huskies lose on road at West Fargo
The Wahpeton Huskies lost 78-46 to West Fargo on Friday at West Fargo High School. Wahpeton went 11 possessions without a point in the game in the first.
Wahpeton fell to 5-8 overall and 4-8 in EDC play.
Cowboys drop home game to No. 6 Yellowjackets
The No. 6 ranked Perham Yellowjackets built a 12-point lead four minutes against the Breckenridge Cowboys Friday and controlled the contest from there, winning 60-39.
Breckenridge used a 10-0 run to pull within 37-30 early in the second half, but a 9-2 run by Perham pushed the lead to back 14.
Jonah Christensen led the Cowboys with 13 points and six rebounds.
Breckenridge fell to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in Section 8AA play.

Blades lose close one to Red Lake Falls
Jase Jensen totaled five points with three goals and two assists and Tanner Barth added three assists, but the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades lost a tough 6-5 game to Red Lakes Falls on Saturday at Sterns Arena.
Isaac Wohlers and Carson Hought each scored goals for the Blades while Wohlers and James Finkral had one assist each.
Jared Aamoldt made 25 saves in net for the Blades.
B-W U19 girls team wins Brookings tournament
The B-W Blades girls U19 hockey team went 4-0 over the weekend to win the Dakota Premier Classic Tournament in Brookings.
The Blades beat Sioux Center 3-1, Brookings 10-0, Huron 4-1 and Sioux Center again 6-3 for the title.
Rylie Finkral had two goals and Jade Thom, Kennedy Schuler, Regan Wohlers and Lillian Beyer one each in the title game. Wohlers also totaled three assists.
The Blades improved to 10-6-1 on the season.
HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS
Wahp-Breck competes in two recent meets
The Wahpeton-Breckenridge gymnastics team completed in two meets over the last week of January.
Wahp-Breck finished third behind Jamestown and Mandan in the Starstruck Triangular in Mandan on Jan. 23
Abbie Skovholt was fifth all-around at 32.12 points and also finished third on the vault at 8.925. Hailee Hanson took eighth place in the all-around at 31.35 and was sixth on the vault at 8.82.
The locals dualed Valley City on Saturday, falling 143-15 to 80.15.
Skovholt led the way by placing third on the vault at 9.0 and sixth on the beam at 8.2 and floor at 8.6 and was sixth all-around at 33.2
Anika Birkelo placed eighth on the floor at 8.4 and Quinn Bassingthwaite was sixth on the bars at 7.55.

Huskies finish second at Larimore Invite
The Wahpeton Huskies placed seventh on Saturday at the Larimore Invitational.
Badger-Green Bush-Middle River won the team title with 167 points. The Huskies scored 64.5.
Two Huskies placed second and two more placed fourth in the event.
Hunter Owens was second at 120 pounds by going 2-1.
Garrett Lathrop also went 2-1 at 170 to finish second.
Jackson Burchill won three straight matches after dropping his first to go 3-2 at 160 for fourth place, as was Kaleb Mostoller at 145.
NDSCS heads west for two games
The North Dakota State College of Science men’s and women’s basketball teams are on the road for two games to start the week.
NDSCS will play at Dakota College Bottineau tonight and at Dawson Community College on Wednesday.
Monday’s doubleheader begins with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday’s games start at 6:30 and 8:30 p.,.
The NDSCS men start the week 19-3 overall and 6-1 in Mon-Dak play, one game behind Dawson CC in the standings. The NDSCS women at 17-5 and 4-3 in Mon-Dak play in a tie for fourth place.
Bison pick up road Summit League win
Vinnie Shahid scored 22 points and Cameron Hunter 20 as North Dakota State pulled away from Purdue Fort Wayne late with a 71-60 win Saturday.
Tyson Ward added 13 points for the Bison, who remained in a first-place tie with South Dakota State at 7-2 in league play. NDSU is 16-7 overall.
