KBMW Sports Roundup: Wahpeton splits with West Fargo

The Wahpeton Senior Babe Ruth baseball team split a doubleheader with the West Fargo Vets on Thursday, dropping the first game 18-15 before taking the nightcap 15-4 in five innings.

Wahpeton scored five times in the first inning and seven more in the third to pull away for its win.

Dawson Hofman, Nick Thompson, Jakobe Anderson and Sterling Wamre all had two hits for Wahpeton while Isaac Loosmore drove in three runs and Thompson two.

Loosmore gave up just two runs on four hits over 4 1/3 innings to get the win while striking out four.

In the first game, Wahpeton and West Fargo came out of the gates swinging, each scoring 12 runs over the first three innings. West Fargo took the lead for good with five runs in the top of the fifth.

Wahpeton was led offensively by Loosmore, Hofman and Nick Thompson, Loosmore had four hits and three RBIs while Thompson droving in three runs and Hoffman added three hits.

Wahpeton used four pitchers in the game, with Jake Uhlich taking the loss.

The Breckenridge Senior Babe Ruth team had its doubleheader at the Fargo Bombers rained out. No makeup date is planned.

Twins announce several players tested positive with COVID-19

The Minnesota Twins announced Thursday that several players have tested positive for COVID-19 as the team sets to opening up a mini training camp on July 1.

The Twins wouldn’t say exactly how many, but said there were multiple cases.

Each player who tested positive was at their home and all were asymptomatic, according to the team.

The MLB regular season is still expected to start either July 23 or 24.
