Heavy Rains Soak Region

On and off rains have been pounding the Southern Valley the past two days, and will continue throughout the day today.

Some rainfall amounts we have received so far:

Lisbon 3.04”
Lidgerwood 2.00”
Colfax 1.44”
Fairmount 1.20”
Wahpeton 1.60”

Ransom County has been especially hard hit, many roads have been washed out due to the heavy rain.
If your morning commute takes you anywhere through Ransom County, better be braced for some detours.

The county sheriff closed all the unpaved roads due to dangerous water on the roads from the four inches of rain folks were reporting fell there Tuesday.

Many of the paved roads were also being overtaken and had to be flagged for reduced speeds. Department of Transportation crews say things were just getting back to normal after spring flooding finally went down.

Now, they're back where they were in April, and they say it could be several days before the water drops.

The Ransom County Sheriff’s Department is advising no travel on township roads in the county, because of wash-outs, and flooded roads.
