Another holiday storm hit the area with severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and tornado touchdowns.

Cass County dispatch received a report of a tornado near Mapleton just after 10 last night.

A farm home near Mapleton sustained major damage. A number of out buildings and farm equipment were either damaged or destroyed. A semi and tractor trailer was tipped over.
Wahpeton-Breckenridge received torrential rains just after 11:30 last night. The storm also contained gusty winds, and frequent vivid lightning.

High winds were clocked in parts of Wilkin County, including a gust of 63 mph near Rothsay.

Heavy rains soaked the southern valley, with some areas seeing 1 to 2 inches per hour. The National Weather Service has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Sargent, south-central Wilkin, and southern Richland counties until 12 noon today.
