

Storm damage in Barney area

Another stormy night in the Southern Valley on Sunday.
The storms formed in south-central ND, and pushed to the east throughout the afternoon, and struck the Southern Valley by late afternoon/early evening.
Tornadoes were reported near Napolean, and west of Ashley, and also near Oakes and Monango, causing extensive damage in those areas. Winds of over 70 mph also tore through Sargent County and into parts of Richland County as well.
Extensive damage was reported in parts of Sargent County include roof damage to homes in Forman and Havana. Numerous trees downed in Cayuga.
According to Richland County Emergency Management Director Brett Lambrecht, 250 to 300 trees reported downed in the Barney and Wyndmere areas.
Some of the rainfall amounts reported by KBMW's Juli Mauch include 4 inches at Great Bend, 2 inches south of Barney, 2 inches at Hankinson, 1.5 inches at Wyndmere, and .75 inches at Mooreton.
KBMW studios recieved .72 inches in the storm last night.
