Storm Brings Rude Awakening

It was a rude wake-up call from Mother Nature this morning in parts of the area.

Severe storms tore through parts of the Southern Valley, into West-Central Minnesota early this morning.

Storms dropped torrential rains, and strong winds in the Jamestown and Valley City areas, causing street flooding, and power outages.

Residents of the Twin Towns awoke to the storm sirens shortly before 6 this morning. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the area. There were no reports of a tornado touching down, just rotation on radar.

The area received very heavy rain. A listener near Dwight reported 1.8 inches of rain, while callers east of Breckenridge reported .37. We also received numerous reports of marble sized hail, and downed branches in Wilkin County.
