Former Wildcat Headed to NFL



Former NDSCS and NDSU cornerback Josh Gatlin has agreed to a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League.

Gatlin, a 6-foot, 194-pound native of Jacksonville, Fla., led the Bison with five interceptions including one returned for a touchdown and had six pass breakups. He recorded 19 tackles including 10 solos and a tackle for a loss playing in 14 games with one start.

Gatlin was All-region and all-conference performer for the Wildcats and head coach Chuck Parsons He was a Two-year starter for NDSCS, and recorded six interceptions in 2008.

Gatlin was selected in the ninth round by the Sacramento Mountain Lions, in the United Football League's draft held in May. Sacramento is coached by former Vikings Head Coach Dennis Green.

The Saints are scheduled to report to camp on Thursday.
