Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Wahpeton



 A Disaster Recovery Center for Richland County residents is opening today in Wahpeton.

Representatives from FEMA and SBA Disaster Assistance will be available to assist flood disaster survivors in making applications for federal assistance in recovery. SBA Disaster Assistance Loan Applications are available for homeowners, renters, and businesses.

The SBA has approved more than $45 million in federal disaster loans.

Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace their damaged or destroyed primary residence. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

Businesses of any size and private, nonprofit organizations can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.

The filing deadline to submit applications for property damage has been extended to August 23, 2011. The deadline to submit economic injury applications is March 21, 2012.

The Disaster Recovery Center in Richland County will be at the northside Wahpeton Fire Station on 16th Avenue North. It will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 9am to 7pm.
