Just before 5:00pm on Monday the Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in Lidgerwood. The vehicle, a 2006 Dodge, owned by Terry Puetz of Hankinson, was stolen from a yard in southwest Lidgerwood. Deputies encountered the stolen vehicle, which was reported to have a .22 caliber rifle in it. The suspect drove the stolen vehicle into RobertsCounty in South Dakota, where sight of the vehicle was lost. Later that evening that same vehicle was spotted by Sargent County Deputies, which pursed the stolen rig back into MarshalCounty in SD. During the pursuit the vehicle hit the ditch and the suspect fled on foot. Authorities are continuing the search for the suspect
In another incident, the Richland County Sheriff’s office is investigating the theft of a separate vehicle in Hankinson. The 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, owned by Julie Falk of Hankinson, was last seen headed west towards Lidgerwood. The value of the vehicle is estimated at $15,000. The vehicle has not been recovered. The license plate is HWT 408.
