Valley City Shooting



A man who apparently fired several rounds into two Valley City businesses has died after losing control of his pickup near Bald Hill Dam Tuesday evening.

Authorities say a man in his 20's, from Valley City, crashed his vehicle into a power pole near Bald Hill Dam.

According the owners of the Brothers III convenience store in Valley City a man with a high powered rifle fired 3 or 4 rounds into the ceiling of the store while sitting in his pickup in the middle of main street around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday.

He also fired one round into Dakota Silver, a liquor store across the street from the convenience store on the east end of town, owned by the same family.

Valley City Police say no one was injured in either of the shooting incidents.

The Barnes County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a car crash near Bald Hill Dam a short time later.  It was at that time determined that the incidents were related.
