North Dakota leaders are hoping a manufacturing plant in Oakes, set to close today may have a second chance.
The Oshkosh Defense manufacturing plant shutdown was originally going to cost 56 jobs.
Harris Machine Company, a local manufacturer, is buying the plant with the intention of ultimately re-growing operations to their former employment level. A company spokesperson says they're retaining some Oshkosh employees as part of a transition period, but are not saying exactly how many.
Bobcat Company in Gwinner says it recently hired 50 new employees as part of a hiring push that will ultimately create 250 new jobs. A spokesperson for Bobcat says a large amount of those new hires came from Oshkosh.
