MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Preliminary numbers show close to 16,000 people attended a benefit concert in Minot raising at least $1.3 million to help with the area's flood recovery efforts.
Minot Area Community Foundation president Ken Kitzman says in a news release that Saturday night's initial count of 15,800 people in attendance at the Minot Rising benefit concert breaks a previous record set for a KISS concert in 2010.
He said concert officials are still adding up donations, but at least $1.3 million has been raised so far.
Hollywood actor and Minot native Josh Duhamel spoke at the concert featuring the Black Eyed Peas and Minneapolis-based rockers Charlz Newman. Duhamel is married to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie.
