Dalrymple Seeks Fed Disaster Declaration

North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple on Thursday asked federal Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to issue a disaster declaration for counties where farmers and ranchers have
suffered significant production losses due to storms and flooding.

Dalrymple says nearly 6 million acres went unplanted this year, and storms and frost have damaged some of the crops that were planted.

A secretarial disaster declaration would make producers eligible for federal aid.
