A former Breckenridge principal is accused of assaulting a student in Floodwood, MN.
Daniel Bettin was put on administrative leave after the incident but district Superintendent Phil Johnson did not confirm an assault.
Floodwood is about 45 miles west of Duluth.
A Floodwood family told the Northland’s NewsCenter, a Duluth TV station, that an 11-year-old boy was assaulted in the school’s lunchroom by the principal. The family member claims Bettin came up behind the boy, grabbed him by the neck and shoved his face to the table, resulting in some bruising and a scratch on the child’s neck, according to Northland’s NewsCenter.
They say the altercation occurred after the boy flicked his rice in the lunchroom.
Bettin was a principal in Breckenridge from 2001 to 2010.
