Reservoir Releases

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) - The Army Corps of Engineers on Tuesday was beginning to decrease water releases from the Jamestown and Pipestem reservoirs north of Jamestown.

Officials say reductions will continue every day for about a month, and with average precipitation, all of the flood control storage in the reservoirs will be gone by mid-November.

Residents along the James River downstream from Jamestown are cautioned to continue monitoring flood forecasts, as high flows will continue for some time even as releases are decreased.

The region was hit by heavy spring snowmelt and summer rains, prompting increases in water releases from the reservoirs.
