BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The president of the North Dakota Farm Bureau says he won't run for re-election.

Eric Aasmundstad has held the position for 12 years. He says it's time for someone new.

Aasmunstad farms near Devils Lake, and he says one reason he's leaving is that most of his farm has been flooded.

Aasmundstad says it's important that the Farm Bureau's president be a full-time farmer and he isn't one any more.

His successor will be chosen Saturday at the Farm Bureau's annual meeting in Minot.

Farm Bureau vice president Doyle Johannes is the only declared candidate so far. He runs a farming and livestock operation near Underwood.

The Farm Bureau is a farm advocacy organization. It has an affiliated insurance business, called Nodak Mutual Insurance Co.
