You may have noticed an increased law enforcement presence in Wilkin County.
The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Department, with funds provided by the MN Office of Traffic Safety through the Towards Zero Deaths Grant, has been out in force to change people’s unsafe driving habits.
Last Friday night, deputies took 4 impaired drivers off the roads in just under 6 hours.
The first was a 911 call reporting a vehicle on fire in the north end of the county. The responding deputy realized the driver showed signs of impairment and arrested the driver on suspicion of DWI.
Numerous citations were issued throughout the night for moving and equipment violations and 4 people were arrested for suspicion of DWI.
Deputies and Breckenridge Police starting increased patrols on December 1st. Extra patrols will continue through December 18th.
