Courthouse Shooting

GRAND MARAIS, Minn. (AP) - A local prosecutor is among three people who were injured during a shooting inside a northern Minnesota courthouse.

A hospital spokeswoman says Cook County prosecutor Timothy Scannell was being treated for gunshot wounds Thursday evening at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Spokeswoman Beth Johnson says Scannell is in stable condition.

Scannell and two other people were shot earlier Thursday at the Cook County courthouse in Grand Marais. Authorities say a suspect was quickly taken into custody, though no other details about the shootings have been released.

Another victim also is hospitalized, while the third victim has been treated and released from a local hospital.

Scannell was the prosecuting attorney in a trial this week involving a man accused of criminal sexual conduct.
