Christmas Oranges

PEMBINA, N.D. (AP) - The U.S. Customs and Border Protection director in Pembina is reminding travelers that mandarin oranges or "Christmas Oranges" are banned from import into the United
States.

Pembina Area Port Director Mary Delaquis says the agency typically sees an influx of the oranges around the holiday season and when Canadian citizens travel to southern states for the
winter.

Delaquis says the fruit is prohibited from being imported into the United States.

The agency says fresh fruits and vegetables grown outside of the U.S. or Canada are typically prohibited.
