An accidental discharge of a Richland County Deputy’s gun has prompted an investigation into the safety of the service pistols that members of the department carry.
Right now the department carries a Glock 40 Caliber pistol. According to Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky, the pistol has shown a penchant to misfire.
Leshovsky has asked the Richland County Commissioners to replace the pistols.
The department has been using the guns for the past decade.
