North Sargent Student Wins Vikings Scholarship

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - The end of University of North Dakota alumnus Jim Kleinsasser's football career may be the beginning of a local high school student's career in medicine.

Sunday was Kleinsasser's final game after a 13-year career with the Minnesota Vikings. The former UND star and his wife, Christa, have been promoting a $10,000 scholarship, and it was presented to
17-year-old Jacob Greenmyer during pre-game activities.

Greenmyer is a cancer survivor. In his essay, he says his medical battles since age 9 led him to consider pursuing a medical career at UND. Greenmyer is from Stirum and attends North Sargent
High School in Gwinner.

UND officials say more than 250 applied for the scholarship, which is funded by the Vikings. The Kleinsassers also have established a separate scholarship at the school.
