FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A Chicago truck driver accused of causing a fatal pileup in southeast North Dakota during a blizzard last winter is set for trial.
Twenty-eight-year-old Nenad Sibinovic is to stand trial in Cass County on Feb. 22.
He's charged with reckless driving in the Dec. 30, 2010, pileup that resulted in the death of a North Dakota truck driver, 50-year-old Lowell Balk of Walcott.
Sibinovic is accused of driving too fast on an icy Interstate 94 during whiteout conditions, causing his empty semitrailer to jackknife. Authorities say Balk died from injuries he suffered when he got out of his semi to help others involved in the ensuing 100-vehicle pileup and was struck by a vehicle.
