A Wheaton man drowned in Traverse County on Sunday night.

Traverse County authorities say 50 year-old Chuck Krauth of Wheaton died after falling through thin ice on Mud Lake. He was reported missing around 10:30 p.m. Searchers found his pickup near White Rock Dam and then spotted his four-wheeler and dog. There was a hole in the ice near the four-wheeler, consistent with a person going through.

Krauth's body was found in about seven-feet of water. The sheriff says the ice in that area was only about an inch thick.
