FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A survey shows that alcohol use among high school students in North Dakota has dropped dramatically in the last two decades.
The Youth Risk Behavior Survey reports that the number of students reporting they had at least one drink in the past 30 days has dropped from 60.7 percent in 1995 to 38.8 percent in 2011.
The survey shows that binge drinking among high school students has been cut nearly in half. In 1995, 46.2 percent of student said they had taken part in binge drinking, defined as consuming five or more alcohol beverages in a couple of hours. That percentage dropped to 25.6 percent in 2011.
