The 25th Annual St. Francis Walk will be held on Wednesday, September 8. Registration is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. just North of Appletree Court in Breckenridge.
There will be a Free Will Donation Benefit Spaghetti Supper for Dave & Kathy Langenwalter on Thursday, September 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Eagles in Wahpeton. The Langenwalter’s farm was damaged by a tornado in August. Sponsored by Richland Implement. Supported by members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Richland County Chapter.
The Wahpeton Breckenridge Just For Kix Dance Program will be holding Fall Registration on Thursday, September 9 at the Breckenridge Elementary Cafeteria. A Grades 6-7-8 dance will be held on Friday, September 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Wahpeton Community Center.
Headwaters Day at Welles Memorial Park will be held on Saturday, September 11th. A History Walk will be held with Registration being held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Playground in Breckenridge.
Richland/Wilkin Emergency Responders Appreciation Night will be held on Saturday, September 11th at the Wahpeton Eagles Club. There will be a Hog Roast at 5:00 p.m. followed by Music at 9:00 p.m. Cost is $10.00 and includes meal and band. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Wilkin/Richland Food Pantries. Please come help the Eagles pay tribute to our local heroes, Firefighters, Law Enforcement and EMT’s from Richland & Wilkin Counties will be in attendance.
There will be a Wahpeton Booster Club Meeting on Sunday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wahpeton High School Cafeteria. The public is urged to attend!
There will be a Free Will Offering Pork Dinner Benefit for Bob Gehring on Sunday, September 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Great Bend Fire Hall in Great Bend. Supported by the members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Richland County Chapter.

The Abuse Resource Network will be hosting the 3rd Annual “Safe At Home” Softball Tournament on Saturday, September 18 at Dead Colt Creek Softball Complex in Lisbon with games starting Saturday morning. The Abercrombie Community Club will be sponsoring its Annual Aber Day Celebration on Saturday, September 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. in Abercrombie. Activities include: Community Breakfast from 7:30 – 1:00, Flower / Garden Show from 9:00 – 4:00, Flea Market / Craft Show from 9:00 – 4:00, Kid’s & Regular Parade at 10:30, Emmanuel Church Dinner from 11:30 – 1:00, Pedal Tractor Pull at 1:00, Bingo at 2:00, Inflatable games from 1:00 – 5:00, Ft. Abercrombie Historical Site Events all day, Softball Tournament at Noon, Variety Show at 7:00, and a Street Dance from 8:30 – 1:00.
The Healthcare and Wellness Foundation will be sponsoring a Ducky Derby on Saturday, September 18 at Welles Memorial Park in Breckenridge. Activities begin at 11:00 a.m. and the Duck Race will begin at 1:00 p.m. Ducks can be adopted for $10.00 for more information or to adopt a Duck please call the Healthcare and Wellness Foundation at 643-0410. All proceeds will benefit St. Francis Healthcare Campus’s Sister Facility, the Indigenous People’s Hospital in the Philippines.
A Minnesota Firearms Certification Safety Class (ND residents also accepted) will be held beginning on Tuesday, September 14th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at the Breckenridge Fire Hall. Classes will be held on September 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30th (with range date being set after classes begin). Class size is limited and cost is $10.00 per student. Again this year, KVLY News 11 is holding its annual “Hutch’s Coats for Kids”. The Optimist Club of Wahpeton/Breckenridge will be distributing the coats and accessories to the public on Tuesday, September 21 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Optimist Shelter located at RJ Hughes Drive in Chahinkapa Park in Wahpeton.

Richland-Wilkin Kinship will be having a Fall Rummage Sale on Saturday, October 2 in the Bank of the West Garage in Wahpeton. Please remember Kinship as you do your fall “cleaning out”. A Benefit Fund has been set up for the David Langenwalter Family whose family farm was destroyed by a tornado on August 7th. Donations may be dropped off at any Wells Fargo Bank or may be mailed to Wells Fargo Bank in Wahpeton. A Benefit Fund has also been set up for the Al Kosel Family whose farm was also destroyed by the same tornado on August 7th. Donations may be dropped off or mailed to any Bremer Bank.

Richland County Communications/911 would like to remind all citizens in Richland County if they do not have a land line in their residence they should go to the Richland County website and enter their cellular information and address. In the event of an emergency Richland County 911 Communications would utilize the CodeRED system to notify its residents of the emergency. The CodeRED early notification system can be used for child abduction, hazardous material spill, flooding, and any other emergency deemed fit.
