Richland County Emergency Declaration
Jamie Dickerman Reporting
Wahpeton, ND (KBMW News) -- The Richland County Commission has taken an early step in preparation for a possible spring flood.
At the commission meeting on Tuesday morning, the board passed a county emergency declaration. That allows for the county to immediately begin mitigation measures, preparedness actions, and other responses to protect public health and safety during a flooding situation, if action becomes necessary.
In other business, the board authorized entering into a user agreement for Code Red Service. Code Red is an early notification system that will replace the reverse 911 system.
The board also determined a price to offer landowners to purchase the necessary right of way for a bridge project over the Wild Rice River on County Highway #4. The board also approved a resolution of surveying and a resolution of necessity for the bridge project.
